Writing Process weekly homework due 9/29
Homework for Writing Process Class
Due Date: Wed, Sep 29, 2010
Hi Parents,
Your child was given homework in class due next week, 9/29. Please get started on it today if you havent yet.
Talk with them about the passage given. Have them take notice of the verbs, adjectives, and phrases used. Look for different kinds of sentences. Have your child brainstorm with you how he or she wants to finish the story. The questions asked on the homework page should help you help them with this. Jot down these ideas.
Now, let them write. This does not have to be long, maybe a couple of paragraphs. After the first draft is written, have your child revise and edit. Encourage them to think: vivid verbs ( i.e. instead of went; scuddled, snuck, tiptoed); adjectives; and where, when and why phrases. Add and "ly" word (adverb) if it works. They may not make all the changes that you see, but that's okay. What you should see is some effort and some change in this direction.
If you have any questions, email me.
